Here’s Pinoy Weekly’s report of the demonstration led by the Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) last Aug 7 against the Palace’s intervention in the selection of awardees for National Artist.
Sa isang makasaysayang protesta, nagbuklod ang mga artista noong Agosto 7 para kondenahin ang diumano’y pambababoy ni Pangulong Arroyo sa Gawad Pambansang Alagad ng Sining.
Dumalo sa protesta sa Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) ang mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining na sina Bienvendio Lumbera, Arturo Luz, Benedicto Cabrera, Salvador Bernal, Eddie Romero, F. Sionil Jose, Napoleon Abueva, at Virgilio Almario, kasama ng iba pang mga artista at grupong pangkultura.
Mula sa CCP, dumiretso sila sa tanggapan ng National Commission on Culture and the Arts, kung saan naging madamdamin ang pagbuhos ng sentimiyento.
