The Hacienda Luisita massacre is an outstanding issue of the people vs Noynoy Aquino

Six years after, the Hacienda Luisita massacre remains an outstanding issue of the Filipino toiling masses against the Cojuangco-Aquino clan. This brief video commentary talks about why it is very important come the 2010 elections and Noynoy Aquino’s presidential bid, to tackle the issue of the massacre and reflect on the life … and death of the Luisita farm workers.

It has been a week since we in KODAO Productions and colleagues from the Computer Professionals Union came to Cebu to facilitate the successful AOM 2.0 workshop on new media, digital activism, and filmmaking. Mary Joyce and Lynn Casper of DigiActive joined and helped us with AOM 2.0. The workshop’s success can be attributed with the participation of organizations from all over the country and the generosity of the institutions and people’s organizations in Cebu. Continue reading

KODAO Productions’ video shoot with Angel Aquino at Calle Industriya

A while ago, we had a video shoot with Angel Aquino at Calle Industriya near Eastwood City. The KODAO Productions team (with me, Cris Balleta on camera, Kuya Felix on audio, and ACT member Lisa Clemente with her brother John) had a cheerful 20-minute session with Angel for an audio-visual production we are filming for the ACT Teachers Partylist.

Angel starred in “Goodbye America” and one of the lead actresses in the award-winning movie “Crying Ladies”. She recently appeared in the GMA7 teleserye “All About Eve”. She also won in 2006 a Cinemalaya Best Actress award for “Donsol”. Continue reading

The People’s March vs Con-Ass Cha-Cha

kodao_codesprint_logoKodao Productions presents a short news report of the June 30, 2009 People’s March Against Charter Change. Filipinos showed their outrage against charter change and the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo regime in a festive and militant march. In a touching display of solidarity, residents and working people poured out the streets of Manila greeting and cheering as the protesters, who came from three different assembly points, passed by. The mobilization converged at the Liwasang Bonifacio and staged a short cultural program.

Call him PAQ

Call him “PAQ”, with the letter “Q” pronounced as “K” and not what it should have sounded. Hehe!

Paquito or PAQ, is the satirical mascot of Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change. Carol Araullo, Bayan Chairperson and convenor of Pagbabago! describes PAQ as “the amalgamation of all that the people find laughable, irritating and downright pathetic in Philippine traditional politics and the cast of characters it breeds.”

kodao_codesprint_logoWatch out for more of Paquito in future activities that will be held by the group.  Paquito may even appear together with Juana Change according to the people behind PAQ’s comic act.
