Party list representatives Satur Ocampo, Liza Maza and Teddy Casiño are taking their political plans a step further today by registering a new political coalition aimed at carrying through their senatorial candidacies in the 2010 elections.

The three opposition members of the House and their supporters went to the COMELEC offices in Intramuros this morning to formally register the Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan (Makabayan), which plans to field candidates for the Senate and for local government positions in next year’s elections.

Satur: A People’s Tribute (1st Episode)

Kodao Productions presents the first episode of “Satur” directed by Joel C. Lamangan. The people’s tribute was held at the UP Bahay ng Alumni last May 28, 2009. The tribute was prepared by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, Bayan Muna, and the human rights organization KARAPATAN.

During the people’s tribute for Ka Satur last May 28, the alternative film group STExposure (Southern Tagalog Exposure) made an 8-min video about the life and struggles of Ka Satur. The video was uploaded in youtube by STExposure’s Real REEL Youtube account.

Last May 28, a tribute was held for Ka Satur by his kin, friends, and comrades in the mass movement. Various artists were also there to pay tribute to Ka Satur. I’m posting here the YouTube videos of the performances of Aisa Seguerra, The Jerks, Brownman Revival among others.

Kabataan, tayo ang pagbabago

Five years in the making for the country’s sole youth sectoral party-list, but better late than never and victory is still sweet for all Filipino youth.

Kabataan Party-list, the largest youth party in the country, represented the youth sector in the 2007 elections. It was the second time for our organization to run in the party-list elections. In 2004, we ran under our previous name, Anak ng Bayan, and were among the top choices for party-list based on pre-election surveys. Anak ng Bayan, however, fell prey to massive cheating. A significant number of our votes were anomalously counted in favor of another party-list group, thus our change of name in the 2007 party-list elections.
