UPDATE: “Long Live the Fearless Man” won in the Democracy Video Challenge. Congrats Aissa!
“Long Live the Fearless Man” (Mabuhay ang Taong Magiting) is a short film by Aissa Peñafiel and Miguel Ocampo. The 3-minute film is a finalist (the only finalist from the Philippines) in the Democracy Video Challenge sponsored by the US government. Other entries for the East Asia Pacific region are from Singapore and Japan.
For the win, they are asking everyone’s help by voting for them at the Democracy Video Challenge’s YouTube Channel. Here’s how you can vote for “Long Live the Fearless Man”: 1) Browse here, 2) Click the VOTE tab 3) In the Search for a Video field write aissathesheriff 4) click their entry’s icon, and finally 5) click the thumbs up sign to vote. One vote is counted for one unique IP address. Voting is until June 15, 2009 only.
The duo also directed “Manong Maong”, which along with Janice Y. Perez’s “Sabongero”, made it to the Short Films Corner of the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival.
