“Hundreds of militant activists trooped to the House of Representatives to denounce the passage of a resolution calling members of congress to convene into a constituent assembly to change the Philippine Constitution.
Braving pouring rain, the protesters blocked the buildings main gate, waving flags and delivering speeches calling congresspersons who voted for House Resolution number 1109 as shameless.
They also expressed unconditional support to the progressive party list congresspersons who valiantly opposed the said resolution.
The passage of the resolution in the dead of the night is an imperialist imposition to allow for trade policies that would benefit multinational corporations and term extension to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her minions in Congress, the militants said.”
